New 2022 KIA EV6 Price, Release Date

2022 KIA EV6 – Kia continues to strengthen its role in the field of electric vehicles by launching a new EV6 crossover. The EV6 is not the first battery-electric vehicle produced in Korea.

This is the first model to rely on electricity for power. Like the Soul EV and Niro EV, it is also available with petrol or electric hybrid powertrains.

Like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV, the Kia EV6 uses the Electric-Global Modular Platform (or E-GMP) from Hyundai Motor Company, with the EV6 coming in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants. Power for the rear or front and rear-mounted electric motors comes from the 58-kWh or 77-kWh battery pack.

The latter provides the rear propulsion EV6 to an approximate range of 316 miles on the European WLTP combined cycle. Expect sub-300 miles on the more conservative EPA cycle.

The KIA Ev6 comes with an augmented reality head-up display. The system displays alerts from the car’s electronic driver assistance system and practical info such as vehicle speed and turn-by-turn navigation directions. The remote parking system also allows you to steer the vehicle in tight spaces from outside the cab.

Kia plans to have 11 EVs in its lineup by the end of 2026, and 7 of them will be based on the E-GMP platform. The rest will most likely be based on a modified platform originally designed for internal combustion power. For custom EV, Kia will use a naming strategy where the prefix “EV” is combined with a number representing the vehicle’s position in the row. EV6 is the first to use a new naming strategy.

Unlike other electric Kia models offered alongside gas and hybrid variants, the upcoming 2022 Kia EV6 will be the company’s first dedicated EV. It will be built on top of the same Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) to support many new Kia EV’s.

The EV6 GT will be powered by a pair of electric motors producing a combined 577 horsepower. The same platform is used by the brand’s close friend, Hyundai, which produces several fully electric vehicles over the next few years under the sub-brand Ioniq.

While Kia uses a less attractive model name strategy for the upcoming EV family, it is said that the goal is to be simple and consistent. Judging by the firm sheet metal 2022 EV6 image and attractive-looking cab, it will be much more interesting to see and, hopefully, to drive.

Choose a small battery pack and rear-wheel drive, and the EV6 is capable of working with about 170 horses from the only electric motor. Adding an all-wheel drive, however, brings about 230 ponies to the EV6 stables. Meanwhile, choosing a larger battery produces 220 and 320 hp of power, respectively, from the rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants of the EV6.

Limited to a larger battery pack, the GT packs only 580 hp from its two electric motors, allowing this high-powered hatchback to go from 0 to 62 mph in the manufacturer’s estimate of 3.5 seconds and up to a top speed. over 160 mph.

Feel free to pound the EV6’s right pedal regularly, too, as Kia claims its upcoming 800 volt EV charging system allows its battery pack from 10 to 80 percent charging capacity in just 18 minutes. Keep the battery at a capacity of more than 35 percent, and the EV6 will pull in about 3,500 pounds as well.

Buyers looking to maximize the mileage of their EV6 will want to take advantage of the regenerative braking system, which offers six different modes that are operated via paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.

2022 KIA EV6 Style

Even though the EV6 and its Ioniq 5 cousin have the same base, the two clearly don’t share much — if any — exterior or interior parts. While Hyundai uses a retro-futuristic and simple design, Kia’s style takes on a more dramatic and sporty form. Low-mounted headlights, muscular fenders, floating rooflines, and body-wide running taillights provide an athletic, if somewhat generic, look at ev6.

A sporty theme also goes into the cab, with the EV6 incorporating a driver-oriented dashboard that includes a pair of 12.0-inch screens. A nice blend of light and dark materials adds a luxurious feel to the room.

The design and layout of the EV6 are not as bold as the exterior; its configuration and features look more attractive and futuristic than the current KIA model.

While the center console doesn’t slide back and forth, and there’s no front seat footrest like the one in the upcoming Ioniq 5, ev6 combines high-tech content like a digital dashboard with practical elements, a floating center console with an over-storage solution, and a large trash can underneath.

Other standout touches include a two-tone, two-spoke steering wheel, a prominent start button on the center console, and gold accents neatly placed throughout the cockpit.

KIA EV6 Range, Charging, and Battery Life

The Kia EV6 comes with a 58.0-kWh battery pack, and the Long Range and GT models come with a 77.4-kWh battery pack that will provide a further driving distance.

Along with an 800-volt operating voltage, it should also be able to charge from 5 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes when plugged into a 350 kW fast charger. The Kia EV will have an estimated range of between 258 and 290 miles.

KIA EV6 Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The basic Standard Range model is available in 168-hp or 232-hp all-wheel-drive configurations, while long-range models come in 225-hp or 321-hp all-wheel-drive settings.

The GT-line model follows the same configuration as the Standard Range car, but the top-dog EV6 GT is only equipped with an all-wheel drive, and a 577-hp follows its electric motor.

The EV6 is based on the same platform as its upcoming fully electric cousin, the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Kia is the only performance-oriented powertrain option.

2022 KIA EV6 Price and Release Date

The 2022 KIA EV6 price is expected to start at $45,000 and will be launched later this year or early next year as a 2022 model.

2022 Kia EV6 GT

The KIA EV6 GT, this range-topping model, has an AWD powertrain with front and rear electric motors that produce a total of 577 Hp and 546 pound-feet of torque, which is only available with two larger EV6 battery packs and also features a visual adjustment to differentiate it from the lower versions.

Kia’s GT performance is impressive, sprinting up to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 128 mph. It also features software that is said to mimic the differential behavior of finite slippage.

Hyundai has not announced any performance versions of the Ioniq 5 EV related so that Kia may have an exclusive version on this high-powered drivetrain.

The GT looks slightly different from other EV6s thanks to larger wheels and tires and a more aggressive front and rear fascia. The yellow brake calipers match the yellow accents in the cabin, and the seats look sporty and aggressively supported.

There will also be a GT-Line version of the EV6 with visual changes similar to the GT but smaller batteries and less powerful drivetrains.

Various configurations for standard EV6 and GT-Line models include a 168-hp one-motor RWD model or a 232-hp two-motor AWD model with a Standard Range battery pack and a 225-hp RWD one-motor, and a 321-hp two-motor AWD model with a remote battery pack.

Kia claims that the RWD Long Range configuration will provide a range of 316 miles on European WLTP cycles; U.S. special EPA range numbers are likely to be lower.
