New 2022 KIA Optima Rumors, Redesign – KIA may re-release the newly redesigned mid-size Optima sedan will offer two turbocharged engines in the US as well as the all-wheel-drive option globally-and, very likely, also in the US for the first time.
There will be a new Optima GT powered by the 286-HP turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four. The new Optima will be called K5 outside of the US and maybe here too, and American buyers will get it in the second half of 2020.

However, don’t expect a complete redesign underneath. Instead, expect a design that purifies the current design, which receives the smallest refresh for the model 2022 years. Just like the new KIA Forte, 2022 KIA Optima will probably borrow the weight from KIA Stinger. The design will emphasize the sleek roofline and wider proportions. As the 2020 Hyundai Sonata, the Optima platform-Mate, the 2022 Optima will grow in both wheelbase and width.
Inside, the 2022 KIA Optima will feature a ton of technology introduced in the 2021 Sonata while also providing less interior space. Some features may be limited to higher trims and premium prices, but technologies such as NFC capabilities, wireless charging, parking help, and more should be available along with showing the blind spot monitor look at the instrument panel. Redesigned dashboards and new materials are also expected.
There are rumors that the new and sexy KIA Optima, which is part of the K5 in the Korean market, will soon have only one name, bringing the Korean moniker to the US and other markets, although KIA will not confirm that yet. What KIA does confirm, however, is that the redesigned mid-size sedan will offer two turbocharged engines for the US and it is quite possible, for the first time, that the US Optima will get an all-wheel drive.

It’s too early to know what KIA Powertrains will offer at 2022 Optima; However, there should be a new four-cylinder engine or revised as possible with or without turbocharging. There are also hybrid variants and PHEV expected, too, although they are expected to start about a year after the gasoline-powered model hit the dealer.
With the sale of a declining sedan, cars with sedan-heavy lineup need to keep their products feeling refreshed. While some cars are leaving sedan, such as Ford, KIA still has to compete with Honda, Toyota, and others. The fresh KIA Optima can help increase sales that decline. 2022 KIA Optima should debut early next year and start sales after that.
The entry-level Optima is powered by a new 1.6-liter, inline-four turbocharged that is also found in the new Hyundai Sonata. It generates 178 horsepower and 195 lb-ft torque and features a new KIA continuous variable Valve Duration (CVVD) technology.
Jumping to the top of the group, the new GT variant, which has been confirmed for the United States, makes 286 horsepower and 311 lb-ft torque thanks to its 2.5-liter inline-four turbocharged. KIA claims it will do zero to 62 mph in 6.6 seconds.
There is also a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, the higher-output variable continuous lifting valve version of the same 2.0 liters, and a 2.5-liter GDi engine, although KIA says this machine will be sold in various other world markets. There is also talk about the hybrid powertrain, although details about it are slim. All these machines come standard with either six or eight-speed automatic transmissions, although the 2.5-liter Turbo is found in the GT available with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The front-wheel-drive has a standard on the updated Optima. KIA hasn’t told us what powertrains are getting all-wheel-drive layouts and where the country is. Hyundai Sonata currently does not offer AWD, so it can be expected to make KIA more desirable.
2022 KIA Optima Release Date
The new KIA Optima will be available in the global market in the last half of 2021, and we hope to see it arriving in the US at the end of 2021 as model 2022.
