New 2022 Kia Sportage Redesign Hybrid Version – Various KIA models are extensive and added to, almost continuously. Having faced criticism that both brands do not have enough crossover and SUVs for the US market and China, both Hyundai and KIA have begun to roll out ever more than this, and there is a more advanced one that is still coming. However, the car is not ignored, because this report shows.
KIA Sportage is freshened for 2020 in an effort to blend roughness with comfort. Introduced last week at the Chicago Auto Show, Sportage received new S trim for the upcoming model of the year, more driver-assist features, and standard 8-inch touch screens for LX, S, and EX variants.

Five-seater targeted at consumers who do not need larger vehicle volume but want the function and comfort of more high-class creatures of the vehicle, according to KIA.
The refreshing version is expected to be sold in the first half of this year, with prices announcing closer to the date of the sales. The exterior design changes include a new lamp with an optional turn LED indicator, a redesigned backlight Trim, the front and rear new fascias, and a new metallic exterior color Steel Grey.
The 2020 Model also offers a series of help-driver features, including guide guarding the track, smart cruise control, and forward-collision assistance with pedestrian detection. Along with the new sporty exterior Trim S, Sportage is offered in LX, EX, and SX variants with front-or all-wheel drive.
Kia Sportage Engine
The vehicle is available with 2.4 liters of gasoline direct injection machine which produces 181 HP and 175 pounds-foot torque or 2.0-liter of GDI turbo which delivers up to 240 HP and 260 pound-foot torque. Both engines are coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission.
KIA sold 82,823 compact crossover units in the US last year, up 14 percent from 2017. Sportage redesigned for the 2017 model year. The next generation, because of the model 2022 years, could include a hybrid version.
The latest Soul was revealed at the Los Angeles motor show last November. Production started two months later and had to last for five years with a facelift in 2022.
In the United States, which will return to become the largest market soul, the third generation is new to the model 2020 years. In that market, buyers can choose from 2.0 liters or 1.6 turbocharged machines. Each of the outputs is 147 horsepower and 200 horsepower in the US-spec. The model for South Korea is sold there as Soul Booster.
For brands that once had multiple crossover and SUVS, KIA now has more than most. Some are specific to specific areas though. The 4, Long Stonic 140mm is the same size as the existing Chinese KIA KX3 and is a challenger for the Nissan Juke, Renault Captur, Opel-Vauxhall Mokka, Toyota C-HR, and others in the SUV class and crossover.
The car, announced to the media in June 2017, had the global Motor Show Premier in Frankfurt IAA three months later. Production started in November 2017 and the life cycle should be six years. Surprisingly, Stonic for the European market was manufactured in Sohari, not in Slovakia. It is believed that the decision to expand the number of body styles for the series replacement of Cee is the reason behind this: Zilina does not have enough capacity.
A joint venture of Dongfeng Yueda KIA (DYK) also manufactures Stonic. The Model for China will be sold as KX1 or Yipao but the name was changed at the last minute to Stonic. His local Debut was as KIA Yi Pao at the Beijing Motor Show in April 2018. Sales started four months later.
An electric Stonic is expected later this year. This derivative should share the 88kW motor with the Hyundai Ioniq but has a larger (44 + kWh) Battery to provide a range of about 300km (186 miles).
For now, there seem to be no plans for any AWD Stoics, nor is there any Stonic available in North America. Expect a facelift in 2021 and a successor at 2024.
KIA will soon release another SUV with the same size as Stonic. The model name is not confirmed but some suggest it could be either Trazor or Tusker. This Model will be the first vehicle for the Indian KIA factory. It was established in Anantapur district in the state of Andhra Pradesh with a cost equivalent to the US $1.1 BN. Construction began in the last quarter of 2017 and was completed at the beginning of 2019.
Manufacturing facilities have a capacity of 300,000 units each year but will begin in just a third of the amount. As with SUV, the Penukonda factory in Anantapur District will also make a small sedan.
KMI (KIA Motors India) reveals an SUV concept at the New Delhi Auto Expo in February 2018. This is the SP. It is understood that the low-cost version of the series production model is the Code name SP2i (for India) whereas the vehicle for the higher income market is SP2. The concept of Signature revealed at the Seoul Motor Show in March is another preview. We should look at the production model soon.
The Sportage (KX-5 in China) has had a mid-life facelift and is now about eighteen months away from being replaced. The Model is currently built in South Korea, China, and Slovakia. The next generation will be based on the architectural evolution of KP Hyundai Motor Group. Production should start in the fourth quarter of 2020 and last until the end of 2025.
There will be additions to the Ceed lineup later in the year after Xceed was revealed at the Frankfurt IAA. The ‘ CrossCeed ‘ will primarily be for the European market. This will complement the Sportage, being a little bigger though it will share much with Ceed.
